Submission Guidelines
This is a stamina-based Secret Santa event, which means that we are expecting people to both submit and create files that are tailored to the stamina community.
In order for this event to run smoothly, it is imperitave that the files submitted match the feel of stamina files, as opposed to those found in technical/FA packs.
Unlike other events ran by Stamina Nation, such as Stamina Showcase, there will be no set guidelines or requirements of specific BPM/Length/Stepcounts for a file to be considered valid.
The only requirement per file is that they are at least 3 minutes in length. Please do not submit something that may be considered unreasonable in effort to step (i.e. a marathon), or at least include multiple options if one ends up being long.
You are allowed to submit up to three songs for the Secret Santa, with an expectation that only one of these files will be stepped.
You can clarify in the "File Requests" section the order of preference you have in your submitted files if you submitted more than one.
The option to submit multiple files for your Secret Santa is if you want to give your Secret Santa more flexibility in what they would like to step.
For each file you submit, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO INCLUDE A SKELETON SM FILE with the proper sync, title, and artist located within the SM file.
You should not include any information within the .sm or .ogg file that can trace it back to you. Do not set your own preview music, include graphics, or mark the file with any name in the simfile field.
Do not name the .ogg file anything other than the title and/or artist of the song. Please use the format SONG ARTIST - SONG TITLE" if possible.
Participants are not expected to sync the file they receive, however if you receive a file you consider slightly off-sync, you are free to resync the file if you choose.
If you are unable to sync your file before initial submission and you truly do want to participate, reach out to the judges. If the file isn't difficult to sync we will try to help.
If the file a participant receives is wildly off-sync, and the participant is unwilling to resync the file (which is to be expected), the participant should contact the event organizers for further instruction.
Files should be submitted under an umbrella folder compressed as a .zip file. If only one file is submitted, the compressed folder should just contain the .ogg and .sm file for the submission.
If there are multiple files included with your submission, please include subfolders with the .ogg and .sm file for each file you are submitting.
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY THE END OF 11/21/2019 PT. ALL UPLOADS ARE FINAL.
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR FILE YOU MUST BE CONTACTABLE ON ANY OF THE PLATFORMS THIS EVENT WAS POSTED ON. This means you must be contactable on Discord, Facebook, or AIJ.
If you did not receive your file the end of the 22nd, contact the event organizers.
If we are unable to contact you and you do not contact us, you will not be participating in the event. There will be no late entries.
Stepping Guidelines
Those who submit to the event will receive a list of submissions within 24 hours of the deadline.
There will be a file included with the submission you receive titled "requests.txt" which will contain the "File Requests" form as written by the submitter.
If there is more than one file included in the submissions, choose one based on your own preferences and those included in the readme.txt.
Participants will be able to clarify in the "Secret Santa Preferences" section what types of files they enjoy stepping/what plays to their strengths.
This is in order to make the experience the best for each participant, with the submitter getting the best file they can, and the submitter enjoying stepping the file the most they can.
We will try our best on the organizational side to accomidate these preferences, but as we don't know who will be submitting, there is no guarantee that these preferences will be met.
Files should be stepped to the best of one's ability and submitted back to the tournament organizers before the deadline.
Participants are only obligated to step one of the files received from their partner, but if their partner sends them multiple files and they want to step more than one file, they are allowed to submit back multiple files.
We will have a separate upload form before the next deadline for this process, however we will also open submissions up to be sent back to either tournament organizer on Discord.
As stepping is subjective, there is no quality barrier to entry, however if it seems like zero effort was put into a file, we may ask that the participant not join the next event.
Finished submissions should include the .ogg file, new .sm file, and any graphics that are created. Graphics are heavily encouraged, but not required. You may also include a CD Title if you wish.
For presentation of the file, if possible the preview music and step artist fields should be filled out by the person who stepped the file.
The latter isn't imperitave however as the pack will come with a master list of pairs to determine your Secret Santa.
We understand that things may arise that prevent you from participating after submitting. If this happens, please let the tournament organizers know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Failure to submit a file at the deadline without informing the tournament organizers in advance will result in a permanent ban from future events!
For those who are partners of orphaned files (i.e. partners with someone who can no longer participate), their submission will be passed to a participant who indicated that they would accept orphaned files in the submission process.
If there are multiple orphaned files, they will be evenly distributed to put as little weight on the volunteers as possible.
RETURN SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY THE END OF 12/22/2019 PT. ALL UPLOADS ARE FINAL.
In the case of sending files back over discord, they are not final.
